Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF)

Doing anything during October 14-24, 2010?

Check out the Hawaii International Film Festival (HIFF) at the Regal Dole Cannery Theater, where over the course of ten days, 224 films will be screened. Films such as dramas, short flicks and documentaries made in the East and the West will be shown there. There is something for everyone!

Interested in documentaries? Want to know more about Lt. Watada, the military officer who refused to get deployed to Iraq? Go and see "Lt. Watada" on October 15 at 5:00 p.m. Want to know what life is like living as a nomad? There is a documentary about the nomadic life of a family in Tibet "Summer Pasture".

There are also dramas from Japan, South Korea, New Zealand and China. I will later tell you more about Hanamizuki which is a drama from Japan about a girl who is off to Tokyo University and falls in love...go and see how things will be.

For all you locals out there, the University of Hawaii at Manoa’s Academy for Creative Media has some entries within the festival. In a later post, I will share with you an interview I had with Dane Neves', the director of "The Green Tie Affair" which features the voice of Hawaii's own Jordan Segundo. Be sure to check out "The Green Tie Affair" on October 15, 2010 at 5:30 p.m.  To learn more visit this link

Beginner Blogger - Me

Hello Reader!

My name is Starla and I am an undergraduate student majoring in entrepreneurial studies and management at Hawaii Pacific University. Since the fourth grade my dream has been to become a business owner.

As part of my honors Communication's class, I am writing/blogging about the Hawaii International Film Festival. Blogging and writing articles are things I seldomly do. This site can be considered a "draft" until the article is posted on the HPU & HIFF blog. I really hope you enjoy my blogs.

Mahalo,
Starla
